Fresh Snow On The Edge Of Ullswater. The Lake District

The forecast was for sun, clear skies and low wind at Ullswater. There was no mention of snow but snow is what we got. The plan was to go into the Martindale valley to photograph the deer but unfortunately, that plan didn’t work out as the car wouldn’t make it up the road.

Instead, I went to the side of Ullswater and photographed the sunrise over the fresh snow. The sunrise was none existent but the view over the water was still pretty. The fresh snow covered the rocks and cast a reflection in the water with a line of trees of in the distance

Brothers water and the Grisedale valley

We climbed up to Angle tarn after photographing the red deer rut in the morning to get views over the tarn and down on to Brothers water. As we got here it started to rain which worked out better for the photographs as it made the landscape a lot darker. When the sun finally came out it lit up the fields surrounding the water and the trees on the side of the Grisedale valley. To the left of the water, you can see the river making its way down Kirkstone pass
