The Road Into The Lake District - Lowick common

A winters drive in the Lake District, taken from Lowick common looking up to a snow covered Coniston old man and Dow Crag

I’d been out photographing the deer on the fells closeby when I noticed the light start to change. It felt like the light would be better for landscapes as I headed to the stretch of road between Lowick and Coniston to photograph these bends, covered in frost with the sun setting. There wasn’t much of a sunset but the soft light helped bring out the cold weather in the photo. Everywhere had a light covering of frost or snow this day

The old tree Spark bridge. The Lake District 1

I pass this old tree every time I go to Coniston, which is a lot of times over the years and it always grabs my attention. It’s been dead for as long as I remember and it stands out due to the barkless branches and because it’s on its own in the field

We were making our way to Pike O’ Blisco and drove past the tree at Spark bridge on a winters morning. The birds were in the old tree and you could see more trees coming through the mist in the background. The sun was rising at the time so the light was the best I’d ever seen it. We stopped here for a few minutes to admire the view before carrying on the journey up into the mountains
