Frozen Ponds Near Great Langdale The Lake District

I was making my way up to Crinkle Crags near Great Langdale in the English Lake District when I spotted this small frozen tarn which was see-through so you could see the rocks underneath with a layer of ice on top.

Off in the distance, you got a view of Great Langdale which was scattered with shadows caused by the clouds and harsh sunlight. I stopped here on the way back down to see how it would look with different light but all of the ice had melted a few hours later

Scafell Pike Being Swallowed By The Clouds

We climbed up Crinkle Crags in the English Lake District to get views over Great Langdale and Scafell / Scafell Pike. When we first got to the top it was quite sunny with a few clouds behind the Scafell range. By the time we’d had dinner, the clouds started to roll in and swallow up the range starting from the left on Scafell before making there way over to Scafell Pike.

On the top of Scafell Pike, you could see the Cairn/platform with people standing on the top. We watched their views disappear as the clouds rolled in and surrounded them

A Herdwick sheep watching over Great Langdale

We had just made our way past Angle Tarn on the way down from Bowfell when I spotted this Herdwick sheep stood watching over Great Langdale. I took my bag off and got down low and slowly made my way over towards where the sheep was stood so that I could get more of the Langdale valley in the frame and get the sheep more prominent in the frame.

Fortunately, as I got the photo framed up the sheep looked towards me and stared me down. It looked like he was watching over Great Langdale.

Great Langdale Panorama from Pike O Blisco

Just as I got to the top of Pike O Blisco the snow clouds rolled in and surrounded me. After hiding behind the cairn for 10-15 minutes the views opened up offering this view of Great Langdale and up on to Bowfell

Walking down Rossett Ghyll. Great Langdale

We were making our way down from Bowfell in the English Lake District. We had just passed Angle tarn and had started to make the descent down Rossett Ghyll. The ghyll circles it’s way down the valley and is mostly paved. I was out with my brother and his friends so I decided to stay back and found a ledge to stand with the drop down to have a clear foreground.

I waited until they were all in a line on the path on the circular part of the path to get a better angle. Up above them was Great Langdale filling the sky. The sun was out as well and because of the clouds, it cast large shadows onto the ground. Fortunately, my brother and his friends were in the sun at the time

Stare Down With A Herdwick Sheep On Pike O' Blisco

A stare down with a Herdwick sheep on the way up Pike O’ Blisco with Crinkle crags in the background.

We were making our way up to Pike O’ Blisco in the English Lake District to get the views over Great Langdale from the top. As we climbed up I spotted this Herdwick sheep staring me down so I slowly approached to get a better composition. The sheep stayed there for the photo, in the background, you can see Crinkle crags with the clouds rolling over the tops with the grassy verge rolling over behind the sheep.

I don’t think you can find many things more Lake District-y than the Herdwick sheep and the mountains. They always seem to have a smile on there face too
