Ulverston Canal At Sunset
A photograph of Ulverston canal gates in Ulverston, Cumbria. Watching the sun go down over the water. The gates were reflecting in the water creating a mirror image and there was an orange glow in the sky behind Hoad monument.
At the end of the canal, you can just about see the start of Ulverston town. The canal has been sealed so it is no longer in use but there is a lot of history associated with it. It is described as the straightest in the UK. About halfway down is a sliding bridge from when the water was in use, with the adjoining buildings that used to house all of the gears. Although they now mainly house graffiti, you can get an idea of how different it must have been a few years ago.
