Red Screes. The Lake District
A scramble from the top of Kirkstone pass to the height of 776m for views down onto Brothers water and Windermere. Most of this walk is easy as you follow a track which has been turned into steps which means you can climb quickly. There is a bit of a scramble up a rocky area which can be tricky. It may be slippy on this section in the winter.
From the top you get a great view down the ridge leading down to Brothers Water. To the left you will see the Helvellyn range and the Coniston Range. Down to the left of the Coniston range is Windermere and the above that to the left you can see High Street on the horizon.
Moderate – The climb up is steep in parts so you may have to take a few tactical breaks to take in the view whilst catching your breath.
My favourite from Red Scrres is looking down from near the Cairn onto Brothers Water below. You also get views across to Windermere and the Coniston Range of fells in the Lake District.
