Aira Force. The Lake District

A short walk from the National Trust car park near Ullswater brings you out at Aira Force. The falls are surrounded by dark rocks, ferns and foliaging helping to make the waterfall stand out.

Above the water fall is a bridge which creates a nice arch over the falls. If you time it right you can also see a rainbow forming in the spray at the bottom of the falls.

Difficulty

Beginner. The walk from the Aira Force car park is short and easy to follow.

Views

At Aira force you get great views of the waterfall by walking around the path. There are some stairs that lead down to the fall which offer a higher vista or you can walk over the bridge and get a closer look.

You often see a rainbow in the water on the lower path, although the spray from the water can make it more difficult for photographs.
