It’s been a week or two since I was last out photographing the stars as the weather hasn’t lined up with my free time, but I decided to head up Chittery lane as that seems to be my go to place for when I don’t have a plan and just start walking.

I usually use the 24-70 for astro photography as the wide angle helps to avoid star trails but I wanted to try something different and used the 100mm instead. The sky was full of stars so I decided to only have a little bit of foreground as there was nothing interesting going on there. Just a silhouette of the hill with a faint glow of the towns lights.

I tried a couple different photos – portrait and landscape to see what would work better. I think the portrait works better with this photos as you get to see more of the stars going up into the sky. What do you prefer?
