What’s better for landscape photography?  Focus stacking using a wide aperture or a smaller aperture.

 

In a recent video, I received a request to make a video comparing focus stacking using photos taken at F5.6 against a small aperture. Now, I misunderstood the request and Keith wanted me to do the test on a macro photo. I took the photographs of the first light hitting a Lake District fell.

Even though I tested the wrong thing it was still interesting to compare and to find out if it’s worth the extra effort

As you can see in the video, the results didn’t change that much so in this type of situtuation a small aperture is the more logical choice. Spend more time out in the field getting the photo right rather than on computer later
