Walking up Great Gable | The Lake District
We did this walk back in July but I never got around to writing the blog for it, I may of forgotten a few things about the day but I haven't forgotten about how horrible walking up the screes were...
We started our walk from Seathwaite farm, there's parking on the roadside leading up to farm
We made our way up the track leading through the farm up towards the fells. After crossing Stockley bridge we ascended up another path zig zagging our way up. Fortunately the views were great and a few tactical photo stops helped to get my breath back.
We came to a cross roads, to the right we could see Great Gable and to the left we could see to the top of another horizons.
We climbed up to Napes needle after reading all about it, I don't think it lived up to the hype but it may be worth going up to it just to tick it off your list of things to do on the climb.
After this I put my camera away as there was a bit of a scramble up the screes, having 2kg bouncing into your stomach makes the unpleasant screes even worse. As we worked our way up and around the views changed slightly and more of the valley became visible.
Here's a view looking down from the top
